As we were checking-in, in Tokyo, for our flight back to London, we got an email to say that I have been nominated to compete for Ireland at next month's Winter Olympics in Sochi.

There were plenty of tears - happy ones for me and sad ones for Tory (because there is only one place).  When we landed at Heathrow, the Captain made an announcement over the public address system to congratulate me - I wonder how he knew ...?

To say that I am hugely honoured is an understatement and I know how lucky I am to have this opportunity.  For me all the hard work I have done to be chosen has been worthwhile and now I will have to do my best when I get to Russia to make myself, my family, my friends and the rest of the Ireland team proud.
